About This Opportunity

As the largest insurer in the Netherlands, we are innovating on all fronts. We do this for our customers, other companies, and our own employees: as a trainee, you will have an incredibly broad technological field to work in. Always developing and leading the way in making technology work for us and our customers. We can achieve this partly due to our vast amount of data. Additionally, we often work in Agile teams continuously improving our apps, allowing our customers to view their savings and insurance products at any time. We invest in new platforms and frameworks such as Sitecore and Angular, and ensure optimal protection of (customer) data through extensive penetration testing. The first blockchain in the field of reinsurance is a reality, and we are working on a savings app where customers can benefit from services like Spotify and Netflix. That’s IT at Achmea.

What exactly will you do in the IT Management Traineeship:

  • You will work on your personal development, which is the foundation of the program. This will be done through an intensive (external) personal leadership program;
  • You will work on four different assignments within Achmea. We have locations across the country: Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, Zeist, Leiden, Leeuwarden, and/or Tilburg. Your base location will depend on your assignment, and sometimes it is possible to do an assignment abroad;
  • You will develop your IT knowledge through monthly thematic sessions;
  • Throughout your traineeship, you will be guided by a mentor (senior colleague or director), coordinator, assignment supervisor, and a (former) trainee, ensuring there is always someone you can turn to.

And after that? Then it’s up to you: after 2 years, you will be ready for a leading role within our IT organization. With all the technological possibilities, you will have the space to implement your ideas and develop yourself into one of the key players within the IT landscape.

Your Background

  • You have a university-level working and thinking ability. Additionally, you have an affinity with and knowledge of IT through, for example, learning, education, internships, or (private) projects; You are fluent in Dutch (both spoken and written);
  • You can see the bigger picture, distinguish between main and side issues, and make connections between different types of information;
  • You take responsibility and communicate your expectations. This way, you ensure that actions are taken and promises are kept;
  • You take the lead in your development. You reflect on your behavior and take feedback seriously. This way, you work on your behavior, skills, and competencies to achieve your goals;
  • You dare to do things slightly differently and see new possibilities. You form a personal vision on issues that have a societal impact and express this even when it is not shared by others;
  • You can give convincing advice, show understanding for objections, and are able to motivate others.
