Mechanical Design Intern Tesla

What to expect:  

As an intern at Tesla’s Engineering Germany, you will support the team with the design of cutting-edge, world-class power converters used across the entirety of Tesla, from Vehicle and Energy Storage to Solar and Manufacturing. You will be joining an elite team of driven engineers with a huge scope, reach, and potential impact.

 

What to do:  

  • Collaborate with the team for modeling and design of mechanical components and assemblies including plastics, sheet metal, heat sinks, insulation systems, magnetic components, high voltage connectors, fasteners and other components
  • Support with Mechanical Design Analysis including thermal, CFD, structural FEA, design for assembly and design for test
  • Participate in all aspects of solving electronics packaging issues including: electrical isolation, sealing, thermal management, interconnection, shock and vibration management, electromagnetic interference (EMI), RF communications, etc.
  • Cooperate closely with other mechanical systems, electrical, digital control, manufacturing, industrial design, and test engineers to take designs from prototype through mass production
    ·   Assist in engineering prototype builds and component fabrication
  • Prepare engineering test plans for designs
  • Create template drawing packages and manufacturing instructions for parts and assemblies

  • Ongoing studies in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
  • Reliable and independent working mindset
  • Enthusiasm for new technologies and technical possibilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to discuss any issues with a wide variety of individuals and groups
  • Analytical mindset, hands on approach and problem-solving oriented
  • Fluency in English
  • Previous internship and/or project experience is a plus
