HBO/WO: Internship Supply Planning – Measuring Key metrics for our Spare parts.

Your assignment

You will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of Supply Chain Management while contributing to the success of our Spare parts and Logistics (SP&L) department within CANON Venlo. You will become part of the planning and inventory control (PLIC) team where you will work on your own project and simultaneously deep dive in our spare parts and supply planning world.

As CANON we are continuously looking for improving our way of working and implementing lean practices, therefore the SP&L team is looking for a new way to monitor the daily workload for our supply planners and use this info to continuously improve.

Your project will focus on the question:

What are the key department metrics which determine the planning and inventory control workload for planners and convert this into a visual management system.

Key focus points during your project will be:

  • Perform time studies regarding activities of our supply planners and gain valuable insight in their processes and way-of-working.
  • Analyse and determine metrics that can be used for operational planning tasks.
  • Create a Realtime visual management dashboard for the Planning and Inventory Control department for the supply planning.
  • Propose improvements based on the data dashboard.

As an Intern SP&L, this assignment will allow you to use your analytical skills to deep dive in processes and work methods, social skills to interview and learn about the CANON organisation and IT skills to translate the Metrics towards an visual management tool.

Your profile

Your profile as an ideal candidate for the internship SP&L:

 

  • You are currently a business studies student or industrial engineering / SCM student (HBO/WO level) who is looking for an internship assignment starting in September 2024 for 4 to 6 months.
  • You do not only think but also form your own opinion and get things done.
  • You have strong social skills
  • To be able to fulfil the assignment you are strong in analytical thinking.
  • You have thorough knowledge of Excel.
